About the game
Legions of Caesar: Gallic Wars is a turn-based tactics game of Caesar's campaigns in Gaul, 58-57 BC. Command cohorts tile by tile, guard your flanks, rotate tired lines and keep your army's morale from breaking. Six battles drawn straight from Caesar's own Commentaries, from the wall at Genava to the desperate fight on the Sabis.
In 58 BC the Helvetii left their homes and set out across Gaul. Caesar, the new governor of the province, moved to stop them, and the campaigns that followed would carry Roman legions deep into Gaul. Legions of Caesar: Gallic Wars lets you fight those battles turn by turn.
Every tile holds one cohort, and every cohort is counted in men, not hit points. Each unit has two action points to move, attack, brace or turn. Facing matters: strike an enemy in the flank or the rear and its morale can collapse. Six morale bands and a stamina bar decide when men stand firm, waver, break or run, and when the whole army routs.
Fight as a Roman commander did. Keep cohorts in first, second and third lines and rotate fresh men forward. Keep units inside the reach of Caesar's guard and his legates to rally them before they flee. Use the ground and the fog of war to see the enemy before the enemy sees you.
Early Access brings six battles from Caesar's Commentaries: the Genava wall, the Arar, Bibracte, Ariovistus, the Axona and the Sabis. Scenario and story text is written from the ancient sources, in English and Simplified Chinese.
